This journey starts in 2020, when I was entrusted by Prof. Sterckx in Cambridge with some interviews he made of Prof. Michael Loewe. These interviews narrate Prof. Loewe's work through the years, and bring to life his personality, professionalism, and dedication to scholarship. While editing them, I realized that many more scholars and researchers have wonderful stories and brilliant advice to share, and they all deserved a platform to do so.
2020 was also the year when I geared up - I acquired a professional camera, which then led the way to an immersion in Photoshop, Premier, and After Effect to explore creative image use. Long story short, I launched Conversations, a series of interviews of scholars who converse about their subfield, their research, and their interests with previous students of theirs. Many scholars have enthusiastically joined the project, which I intend to continue through my career; if you are interested in collaborating, please reach out! Meanwhile, follow Conversations on Twitter and Youtube.
The project is kindly being sponsored by Early China. I am grateful for their support and assistance to Sarah Allan, Kevin Huang, Vincent S. Leung, Edward L. Shaughnessy, Roel Sterckx.
The Highlights of Conversations
What is the fuel of scholarship, in the end? Prof. John S. Major gave me his answer when I interviewed him in April 2020.
