Methods in Sinology
Oct, 02/2021
Methods in Sinology is a lecture series that originates from a simple idea: sharing methods of research. When doing research, we move in a richness of material, dictionaries, websites… how to use them best? What are more suitable for reading ancient texts, as opposed to interpreting Tang Dynasty sources? Is this distinction even possible?
These and other questions are often on our minds. Why not trying to answer them collectively, within the community of Sinologists? This motivated my colleague Mariana Zorkina to reach out to me and ask me to co-organize this series of lectures, where scholars from all career stages share with the public their workflow and favorite go-to sources.
Methods in Sinology aims to cover all fields, and invite different exporters of the same area, so as to provide as many insights as possible. You can check its schedule here, where you also find links to register for each event. We are also on Twitter, @InSinology, and always happy to have your feedback!
